The BotsReal agenda is curated with careful consideration, after a process of research, discussion and the expertise of our team, sponsors and partners. Following from the theme of “The Search for Growth”, each presentation & discussion aims to speak to this goal by providing a diverse number of topics which allow for deep, nuanced conversation from our high- quality speakers. Our team comprises of property professionals with their finger on the pulse of the continent’s developments and an understanding of how best to package these ideas to serve our delegates, partners and sponsors. With economic growth climbing to an estimated 3.6% and 4% in 2019; how will the state continue to focus on implementing economic restructuring making Botswana more competitive and attractive to its reawakening African neighbours as commodity demand heats up? Long seen as Africa’s most stable country economically and politically; we unpack how Botswana is set to regain its sparkle and minimise perceived risks of unemployment, water shortages, regional challenges and infrastructure on the economy.

CAPITAL MARKETS & BOTSWANA WITHIN THE AFRICAN CONTEXT:

As one of only three countries in Africa with a market cap greater than 100% of GDP according to Absa’s Africa Financial Markets Index report of 2018, Botswana is home to one of Africa’s most deep and liquid capital markets per capita. With the country at the vanguard of adopting measures in bringing more companies to list on its alternative exchanges, Botswana’s liquidity presents several investment scenarios to consider for the real estate sector. How do asset managers get better yields in a competitive market space; and how can developers get better access and terms to capital for projects locally and in new jurisdictions?
