Phil is the Vice President of Client Coverage, South Africa at IPD. Prior to joining IPD, he was is the Head of Research for Old Mutual Property. Phil has a broad experience in real estate, asset management and strategy consulting. He earned a PDP (Property Development Programme) and MBA at University of Cape Town and has gained specialist insight into all aspects of property supply and demand research, including economic, demographic and consumer trends.
Simone Kuhn currently the Manager and also responsible for Development for Sub-Saharan Africa at Radisson Hotel Group. Prior to this she was the Business Development Manager of Africa and the Indian Ocean for the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. Simone’s career in the hotel industry started at the Savoy Hotel in London. Thereafter, Simone held management positions within hotel operations in South Africa and the United Kingdom. In 2008, Simone took up the challenge as a Manager for Etihad Airlines based in the UAE. In 2011, Simone joined the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group and now forms part of the fasting growing hotel group in Africa looking after ten Anglophone countries.
Turnie Morolong is currently a Director of Property Management at Time Projects Botswana (Pty) Ltd . Prior to that, he was a Group Property Administrator at Cash Bazaar Holdings (Pty) Ltd. Before which he was the Staff Officer – Directorate of welfare and recreation at Botswana Defence Force. Turnie holds an MBA from the University of Botswana and a BA Humanities Degree from the University of Botswana.
Mr Tsheole is a seasoned Financial Markets expert with a cumulative experience of 15 years having worked for Bank of Botswana and Botswana Stock Exchange.
Mr Tsheole holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Single Major Economics) from the University of Botswana and a Master of Commerce (MComm) in Financial Markets from Rhodes University (RSA). Further, he holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town (RSA). He has also completed several financial markets programmes as well as a Leadership Development Programme at the University of Stellenbosch Business School (RSA).
Mr Tsheole has extensive financial markets experience in Capital Markets, Forex, Structured Products and the Financial Market Regulation. He was appointed CEO of the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) in January 2016 following a short stint as Deputy CEO at BSE since February 2014. His career at BSE began in February 2007 when he was appointed Product Development Manager.
Mr Tsheole is a firm believer in the development of the financial market in Botswana and Africa, as well as their importance to economic growth and stability. It is against this backdrop that he has led initiatives to increase activity in the financial market in Botswana.
Boitumelo Mogopa is the First National Bank of Botswana’s Director of Retail. Ms. Mogopa joined FNBB from Standard Chartered Bank where she served as Finance Business Support Manager and later on became General Manager- Wealth Segment. Prior to Standard Chartered, she was Management Accountant at Barclays Botswana, and earlier in her career served as Accountant for the Botswana Housing Corporation. Boitumelo was appointed chairperson of the Letlole la Rona board in 2015 and has led the company through a period of outstanding growth. Boitumelo holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) Degree and is a fellow member of the Association of Accounting Chartered Accountants and a member of the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Gary is currently serving as Executive Chairman of the Capitalgro Board. He is a UCT graduate. He was a member of CBS Property Group’s executive team from inception in 1994 through to its disposal in 2007. He subsequently launched British Capital, a Guernsey based property investment company, and founded the Property Foundation, a non-profit property development company. Gary more recently served a term with the Western Cape Government as the Head of Public Works.
Mavrick Webbstock is Head of Corporate and Investment Banking at Barclays Bank of
Botswana, prior to taking this role he was responsible for the Investment and AgriBusiness
portfolios in KwaZulu- Natal. He has a. Mavrick's banking career began at Nedbank in
Sandton in 2004 where he was Senior Manager in Corporate Banking covering the Strategic
Business Portfolio and then Mid-Corporate and the Public Sector. A qualified Chemical
Engineer, Mavrick holds a BSc in Engineering from the University of Natal and an MBA (with
distinction) from the University of Cape Town. He also completed the GIBS Global Executive
Development Programme (with distinction) at the University of Pretoria.
Kim joined the development team of AccorHotels in Johannesburg in November 2017. As Development Director Kim is responsible for the development of AccorHotels brands from economy to luxury segments in Sub-Saharan Africa. Previously, Kim spent eight years at Hospitality Property Fund, the only hotel REIT listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. As VP Investments, she played a pivotal role in acquiring and disposing of hotel assets in South Africa. Kim holds a bachelor degree in hospitality management from the Hotelschool The Hague and a master degree in financial management from RSM Erasmus University in Rotterdam.
Sethebe Manake is a business owner, standing at the helm of Botswana’s first Property Research and Consulting Firm. She has extensive experience in the real estate industry particularly with pension fund portfolios, listed property portfolios, consortiums, joint ventures and privately owned portfolios. Her last corporate role was Chief Executive Officer of listed property company Letlole La Rona, before being offered a regional Asset Management position at Stanlib South Africa. Sethebe holds a Bachelor of Science in Property Studies from the University of Cape Town and a Master of Science in Strategic Management from the University of Derby and Botswana Accountancy College.
Sandy Kelly began his career in the construction, property development and property finance industry in South Africa. He moved to Botswana in 1988 to “open the doors” for Time Projects Botswana. He was instrumental in developing PrimeTime’s initial portfolio and its successful listing on the BSE in 2007. Since then, as managing director of Time Projects and PrimeTime he has led the team that has built the company’s investment properties from an initial 13 to 26 today including the drive into Zambia.
Ramachandran Ottappathu is the Director & Chief Executive Officer, Choppies Enterprises Ltd, the largest retail chain in Southern African market. He is highly experienced in Strategic Planning & Execution, Budget Planning, Turnaround Management Operational & Financial Risk. Prior to joining Choppies, Ramachandran was the Financial Manager at Apollo Tyres Ltd, India. He is also a Promoter and 50% shareholder in the Far Property Company Ltd which holds a property portfolio of more than $120 million. Ramachandran is a fellow member of the internationally accredited institute of Chartered Accountants of India and a Certified SAP consultant.
Geri Wessels gained valuable experience by conducting market research in sub-Saharan Africa as a hospitality analyst. She joined Hilton in June 2013 as part of the development team to assist in realizing the growing number of opportunities on the African continent. Geri is responsible for securing exciting new projects in the SADC region. Prior to her return to South Africa, Geri was based in the United Arab Emirates for five years, focusing on development in the Middle East and North Africa hotel markets.
Montshwari Mooketsi is currently the Chaiman & Board Member of Real Estate Advisory Council (REAC). He is also the Managing Director For More Property Valuers Pty Ltd and Executive Chairman of Excess Petroleum Pty Ltd. He is a founding Member & full member of the Real Estate Institute of Botswana (REIB) for which he was president from 1998-2000 and from 2005 to 2010. He is currently also the Chairperson of Lands and Housing Sector of BOCCIM for High level Consultancy Council. Montshwari holds a Diploma in Land Use Management, a BSc (Hons) in Estate Management and a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from North London University, Oxford Brookes University and University of Botswana respectively.
Jacopo is the Chief Executive Officer of RDC Properties limited for Botswana Operations. Since joining, Jacopo has been involved in investment, construction, property and asset management and leading the Steering and Operational Committees of the Group as well as international Developments. He holds a Civil Engineering Masters degree. His career started in Accenture, the Strategy and Management Consulting Firm. This engagement enabled him to get wide exposure to large and complex corporate environments both in EU and US. Few years later he joined the family construction company in Italy. This work experience, both technical and managerial, was conducive to his appointment as Group General Manager for the Realestate Group Companies in 2009.
Aged 54, Civil Engineer, Masters in Business Management and Transport, AMP (Harvard Business School), IEP (INSEAD), Alumni Association (EPFL, INSEAD, HBS). As Chief Executive Officer of the Realestate Group, he has been involved in property development and investments for over 26 years in Africa. In 1992 he set up RDC Properties Limited, the first Botswana Listed Property company. Has been awarded the Order of Merit by The King of Spain. He is the Honorary Consul of Italy and Spain in Botswana and actively involved in community works as a Paul Harris Fellow
Paul is currently the Executive Director at Aon Risk Management, a risk management and
engineering sister company to Aon Botswana. He joined Aon after 14 years as the founding Group
Risk Manager for Debswana Diamond Company as well as the founding CEO of the company’s in-
house insurance company, Sesiro Insurance Company. Prior to joining Debswana, he worked for
Botswana Insurance Company for over 11 years rising through the ranks both in underwriting and
claims to the level of Claims Manager. Paul holds a Master of Science (MSc) and a Bachelor of Arts
both in Risk Management from Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland. He is a Member of the
UK’s Institute of Risk Management (MIRM).
Tuelo Botlhole is the General Manager of PPC Botswana. He is an experienced Business Manager with 16 years of experience in Operations Management in the FMCG, Manufacturing and Construction sectors. As PPC’s first local GM, Botlhole brings an intimate knowledge of the business and an embedded understanding of the local market to the role. His key functions include Strategic Management with critical Management functions, including oversight of the complex ecosystem of cement production and its role within the construction industry. Botlhole is a results-oriented leader with a penchant for innovation and solutions that are responsive to the unique challenges within the local context.
Outule Bale was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Khumo Property Asset Management in 2012. He is responsible for driving the business and property asset management and development. Outule gained his initial experience in property surveying and estate management with knight Frank Botswana. He has extensive experience in analysis, appraisal, acquisition, sale and management across the traditional areas of property valuations, management, Investment, commercial agency, strategic management of property facilities and wealth creation. Outule holds a BSc (Hons) Urban Property Surveying, a MSc Strategic Management and a MREIB (44 years).
Bakang is the Managing Director of Leru Property Group with over 10 years’ experience in Real
Estate Developments and Investments. He holds a BSc Property Studies, Business and
Entrepreneurship Programme at the University of Nevada, USA and completed an Auctioneering
diploma in 2016. Previously he was employed as the Head of Property Developments/Investments at
Khumo Property Asset Management (Botswana), a subsidiary of Eris Property Group and BIFM.
Bakang started his career at RMB Properties, Eris Property Group (SA) before joining Khumo PAM.
Bakang is a Trustee and Member of the Board of Trustee for Gaborone City Development and
Investment Trust, Chairman\Co-founder of Botswana Green Building Council.
Graham Kusano is a Senior Development Asset Manager at IHS responsible for managing some of the fund’s investments in developmental assets. Prior to joining IHS Graham headed up the Liberty Group Property Development Team responsible for developing retail, hotel, commercial and hospital assets for the Groups R30bn portfolio and 3rd party clients on the continent. The team was responsible for deal origination right down to delivery. He was at Liberty for over 6 years. He has also worked in other facets of the property industry which include property management and finance. He holds a Bachelor of Social Science Degree from the University of Cape Town.
George Obone is the Valuations Manager, FNB Botswana. His career began at Knight Frank Head Office in London (UK) within the property asset management division then Khumo Property Asset Management within the property management department. He also worked for Botswana Housing Corporation (BHC) then Botswana Fibre Networks (BOFINET). His areas of practice span from property management, facilities management & maintenance, property valuations. George holds a BSc (Hons) Estate Management from Heriot Watt University, Scotland and a Master of Business Administration, MBA from Edinburgh Business School, Scotland. He is full member of the Real Estate Institute of Botswana (REIB); Real Estate Advisory Council (REAC) and a member in training of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Kebonyemodisa Ooke is the Chief Planner at the Ministry of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services Department of Town and Regional Planning. Prior to this, he has been the Principal planner at Ministry of Lands and Housing, Department of Town and Regional Planning and the Program Manager at Habitat for Humanity, Botswana. He holds Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning (Environmental Science) from the University of Botswana. Kebonyemodisa Ooke is an experienced spatial planner with valuable and strong background in national spatial planning, land management, project management, project procurement, environmental assessment and public administration.
Romano is the Group CEO at MLC. He is a registered Professional Quantity Surveyor with 32 years post-qualification experience as a cost management consultant within the construction industry. After joining MLC in 1992, he has been responsible for the Kwazulu-Natal office. He has served on the MLC Management Exco for several years. Romano’s focus as the Group CEO will centre around sustaining and expanding the business, nurturing relationships with existing clients, fostering new business relationship opportunities, overseeing a number of major projects, and ensuring that the MLC ethos of delivering an exceptional quality of service with personalised expertise, is maintained internationally.
Mr Moalafi is currently the Director in the Department of Town and Regional Planning. He holds a BSc in Urban and Regional Planning (UB) and an MA in Urban Design, Oxford Brookes. He has been a physical planner in government, within various Local Authorities (Southern District Council, Goodhope Sub District Council, Ghanzi District Council, Lobatse Town Council) rising through the ranks from assistant Physical Planner to Senior Physical Planner during the years 1997- 2006. Prion to this, he was lecturing in Department of Architecture and planning at the University of Botswana. He then served Botswana Housing Corporation for 4 years as the Land Acquisition Manager.
Louis joined Actis in 2009 with a focus investments in Sub-Saharan Africa. He has worked across multiple asset classes and transaction types including LBO’s, growth capital deals, restructurings and greenfield developments. Louis comes from a retail and property development background and is currently leading Actis’s real estate efforts in the SADC region including in the light industrial space.
Selwyn Blieden is a Principal at Barclays Africa and leads the bank’s commercial property finance business in Africa (ex-South Africa). Prior to taking on this role, he was a founding member of the RMB Westport team, leading structuring and corporate management for RMB Westport’s developments in Nigeria. Previously, he co-founded and managed Rand Merchant Bank’s Opportunities in Global Real Estate portfolio. Before joining Rand Merchant Bank, Selwyn was a consultant in the Johannesburg office of McKinsey & Company, serving clients in several African jurisdictions. Selwyn is a CFA Charterholder and holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge.
Mr. Bashi Gaetsaloe is the Managing Director and Director at Botswana Development Corporation Limited. Prior to joining BDC he was the Country Managing Director at Accenture Botswana. Bashi has held CEO positions in various companies. He has also been the Chief Executive Officer of two global entities KPMG Consulting and most recently Accenture Botswana. He was appointed Head of Management Consulting for the Public Sector in South Africa. Bashi has broad experience working across various sectors covering organisational transformation, business start-ups and business turn-around, change management and financial management. Mr. Gaetsaloe holds an MA in Economics from Yale University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Connecticut College, New London.
Gosego January is currently the CEO of the Debswana Pension Fund (DPF). Prior to this she worked at Debswana Diamond Company where she held various key Managerial positions. Gosego is a Chartered Management Accountant with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) UK, she also holds a Diploma in Business Administration-Accounting from the Cambrian College of Applied Arts and Technology. Gosego has served as Director on the Board of PEO Venture Capital Fund (Pty) Ltd. She is currently a Member of the Audit & Finance Committee for Sechaba Holdings and of the Advisory Board at Vantage Capital Investment.
